Young Thug

Jeffery Lamar Williams II, born August 16, 1991, records as Young Thug. The tenth of eleven children, he grew up in the Jonesboro South projects near Cleveland Avenue in Atlanta, was expelled in sixth grade and spent four years in juvenile detention. He started releasing the I Came from Nothing mixtapes in 2011, and Gucci Mane signed him to 1017 in 2013, where 1017 Thug drew wide critical praise. "Stoner," "Danny Glover" and "Lifestyle" made him a national figure in 2014, and Barter 6, Jeffery, So Much Fun and Punk followed, the last two debuting at number one. He founded YSL Records, signing Gunna and Lil Baby. He was arrested in a 2022 RICO indictment, held for more than two years and released in October 2024 after a plea deal, then returned with UY Scuti.
