Michael Lamar White IV, born June 18, 1999, records as Trippie Redd. Born and raised on 14th Street in Canton, Ohio, he grew up on his mother's Ashanti, Beyoncé, Tupac and Nas records before finding T-Pain, Gucci Mane, Marilyn Manson and a long list of 2000s pop-punk bands, a combination that shows up directly in his music. His older brother, who rapped as Dirty Redd, was killed in a car accident in 2014. He moved to Atlanta after high school, met Lil Wop and signed to 10K Projects. A Love Letter to You and its double platinum single "Love Scars" broke him in 2017, and Life's a Trip, ! and A Love Letter to You 4 followed, the last topping the Billboard 200. "Miss the Rage" with Playboi Carti named an entire subgenre.
