Montero Lamar Hill, born April 9, 1999, records as Lil Nas X. Raised in the Bankhead Courts housing project in Atlanta and later in Austell with his father, a gospel singer, he spent his teens building meme accounts online before dropping out of the University of West Georgia to make music. "Old Town Road" spent a then-record 19 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019, and he came out as gay while it was still on top, the first artist to do so with a number one record. He signed to Columbia for the EP 7 and the singles "Panini" and "Rodeo." Montero reached number two on the Billboard 200 in 2021 with the number one singles "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)" and "Industry Baby" featuring Jack Harlow.
