Victoria Monét McCants, born May 1, 1989, is a singer and songwriter. Born in Atlanta and raised in Sacramento, she sang in her church youth choir, ran her own dance group in junior high and talked her mother into moving so she could attend Sheldon High School's performing arts program. She auditioned for a Rodney Jerkins girl group that signed to Motown and was dropped before releasing anything, then turned to songwriting, starting with a track on Diddy-Dirty Money's Last Train to Paris. She co-wrote for every Ariana Grande album, including "Thank U, Next" and "7 Rings." Her fifth EP Jaguar drew acclaim in 2020, and her debut album Jaguar II broke through in 2023 with "On My Mama." She won three Grammys in 2024, including Best New Artist and Best R&B Album.
