Karon Malcolm Vantrees, born February 28, 1995, records as Veeze. Raised on Seven Mile Road on Detroit's West Side, he wanted to play in the NBA before turning to music, selling apples and pears as a kid and later dealing with substance issues he references directly in his songs. He started rapping in 2019, drawing on the Detroit lineage of Street Lord'z, Doughboyz Cashout and Team Eastside, and released his debut single "Itself" that May, followed by the mixtape Navy Wavy. His half-mumbled, conversational delivery, where punchlines arrive under his breath rather than on the beat, became one of the most imitated styles of the 2020s. He signed to Warner Records for Ganger in 2023, which reached number 97 on the Billboard 200, and "Sorry Not Sorry" with Lil Yachty gave him his first Hot 100 entry.
