Patrick Owen Baril, born January 23, 1982, works as Statik Selektah. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he experimented with his parents' eight-track machine and turntable as a child, DJed school functions by middle school, and decided to go professional after hearing DJ Premier and Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97. He studied audio production at the New England Institute of Art and started the mixtape series Spell My Name Right. He founded Showoff Records in 2006, releasing Termanology's Out the Gate as its first record, and formed the group 1982 with Termanology in 2010. He has lived in New York since 2004. His albums, built as producer showcases, run from Spell My Name Right and Stick 2 the Script through 100 Proof, Extended Play and Round Trip, and he hosts Showoff Radio on Shade 45.
