Omar Jeffery Pineiro, born May 15, 1997, records as Smokepurpp. Born in Chicago to Cuban parents and raised in Miami from the age of three, he started out making beats out of boredom in high school and posting instrumentals to SoundCloud. When nobody bought them he started rapping himself, and pushed his friend Lil Pump to do the same, making the two central figures of the SoundCloud rap wave. His second upload featured XXXTentacion. He signed with Alamo and Interscope in March 2017 and released "Audi," which went platinum, and the mixtape Deadstar, which reached number 42 on the Billboard 200. Deadstar 2 followed in 2019 and Florida Jit in 2020. His influences run from Kanye West and Young Thug to the pop-punk bands Taking Back Sunday and Every Avenue.
