Jemille Marrail Edwards, born June 3, 1999, records as Skrilla. Raised in Kensington, the Philadelphia neighborhood known for its open-air drug trade, to a Mexican mother from Texas and an African-American father, he started selling drugs around 12, played AAU basketball and ran cross country before dropping sports, and spent two and a half years under house arrest in high school on heroin-related charges. His childhood friend RecoHavoc pushed him to start rapping, and he released his debut single "Green Snake" in 2018, followed by the mixtapes Kutthroat and Gemini Season. He signed to Priority Records in 2023 and released UnderWorld, Zombie Love Kensington Paradise and Z. His single "Doot Doot (6 7)" set off the 6-7 trend on TikTok in 2025 and became one of the most inescapable phrases of the year.
