Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, born February 15, 1995, records as Megan Thee Stallion. Born in San Antonio and raised in Houston's South Park neighborhood by her mother Holly Thomas, who rapped as Holly-Wood and took her to recording sessions instead of daycare, she began writing raps at 14 and studied health administration at Texas Southern University. Freestyle videos from her time at Prairie View A&M went viral and led to a deal with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018. Fever and the EP Suga both reached the Billboard 200 top ten, "Hot Girl Summer" entered the language, and the Beyoncé remix of "Savage" topped the Hot 100 and won two Grammys. "WAP" with Cardi B gave her a second number one. Good News, Traumazine and Megan followed, alongside a long legal fight over her shooting by Tory Lanez.
