Jamel Irief, born Elgin Evander Turner on August 18, 1969, records as Masta Killa. Born in Brooklyn, he was the last member to join Wu-Tang Clan and the only one who was not already rapping when the group formed, which is why he does not appear on "Protect Ya Neck." GZA mentored him closely in his early years, and the two share a similar measured flow. He took his name from the 1978 kung fu film Shaolin Master Killer. On Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) he appears on a single track, closing "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'" with a verse he nearly did not make. He became far more prolific on later Clan albums and released his debut solo album No Said Date in 2004, followed by four more, and joined Rakim and Kurupt for The Godbody.
