Louis Kevin Celestin, born August 25, 1992, produces as Kaytranada. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in Saint-Hubert near Montreal, he started producing at 14 after his brother Lou Phelps introduced him to FL Studio, and dropped out of high school to work full time and support his family. He released early material as Kaytradamus, changed his name in 2012, and became a SoundCloud phenomenon in 2013 with his rework of Janet Jackson's "If." He signed to XL Recordings and released 99.9% in 2016, then Bubba in 2019, which won two Grammys including Best Dance/Electronic Album. Timeless followed in 2024. He came out publicly in 2016 and has spoken about the anxiety and identity crisis that preceded it. He also forms the duo The Celestics with his brother.
