Sheldon Jerome Young, born May 26, 1991, records as Channel Tres. Raised between Compton and Lynwood in southern Los Angeles by his great-grandparents, he spent most of his childhood in church playing drums for the choir, then left home to study music at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. Back in Los Angeles he was brought into studio sessions by his friend August 08 and began producing for Duckwrth, Wale and Kehlani. His 2018 single "Controller" broke internationally after Pete Tong named it an Essential New Tune on BBC Radio 1 and Australia's Triple J put it in rotation. He works in a lane of his own, pairing a deep baritone rap delivery with Detroit-rooted house production, and has since released the singles "Topdown" and "Black Moses" with JPEGMAFIA and the album Head Rush.
