Virgil René Gazca, born February 2, 1999, records as That Mexican OT, short for Outta Texas. He was born in Bay City, Texas, lost his mother to a drunk driver in 2007, and grew up largely without his father, who was incarcerated for much of his childhood. After graduating from Stony Point High School he began recording independently, releasing the mixtapes South Texas Project, Southside Steppin, 1 Double 0 and Nonsense and Mexican Shit in the early 2020s. His music blends Texas hip-hop with Chicano rap and corrido influences, delivered in a rapid, technical flow. Lonestar Luchador arrived in July 2023 with the breakthrough single "Johnny Dang" alongside Paul Wall and Drodi, which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and led to a deal with Interscope.
