Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, born July 2, 1993, records as Saweetie. Born in Santa Clara, California, to a Chinese Filipino American mother and an African American father, she grew up in Hayward and Sacramento, began writing at 13, and earned a communications degree from the University of Southern California before committing to rap in 2016. She posted freestyles to Instagram, and one over Khia's "My Neck, My Back" became "Icy Grl," which went double platinum and led to a deal with Warner Records. Her EP Icy produced "My Type," which went quadruple platinum, and "Tap In" and "Best Friend" with Doja Cat both reached the Hot 100 top 20. She was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 2022 Grammys.
