Mach-Hommy is a Haitian-American rapper and record producer raised largely in Newark, New Jersey, with much of his childhood spent in Port-au-Prince. His father was a folk guitarist, and he recorded his first music at 13 over the beat to Raekwon's "Verbal Intercourse." He conceals his real name and face in public, which has made him one of the most elusive figures in rap, and he writes heavily about the social and political history of Haiti, moving between English and Haitian Kreyòl. He blocks lyric sites from republishing his words and has priced releases far above the market, pressing 187 copies of H.B.O. at $300 each and issuing The G.A.T. as a single $999 vinyl that later sold at auction for $24,400. Pray for Haiti in 2021 and Richaxxhaitian expanded his audience without softening the terms.
