Ricardo Emmanuel Brown, born November 23, 1972, records as Kurupt. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to greater Los Angeles at 16 and met Snoop Dogg in 1991 during a 15-minute battle at The Roxy Theatre that ended in mutual respect. Snoop introduced him to Dr. Dre, and Kurupt joined Death Row Records, appearing across The Chronic, Doggystyle and Above the Rim. He formed Tha Dogg Pound with Daz Dillinger in 1992, and the duo's Dogg Food debuted at number one in 1995. He also formed The HRSMN with Ras Kass, Canibus and Killah Priest. His solo debut Kuruption! reached number eight on the Billboard 200 in 1998, and he later served as vice president of a revived Death Row. He joined Rakim and Masta Killa for the album The Godbody.
