The Yonkers rapper formed The Lox with Styles P and Sheek Louch in 1994 and signed to Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records, releasing Money, Power & Respect in 1998 before the group fought its way out of the deal and moved to Ruff Ryders for We Are the Streets. As a solo artist he released Kiss Tha Game Goodbye in 2001 and Kiss of Death in 2004, the latter debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with "Why" as its signature single. The Lox returned on Jay-Z's Roc Nation for Filthy America… It's Beautiful and Living Off Xperience, and the group's 2021 Verzuz against Dipset is one of the most watched in the series. He is consistently named among the most technically gifted rappers of his generation.
