Issa Lorenzo Diakhaté, born June 6, 1992, in Les Lilas in Seine-Saint-Denis, records as Freeze Corleone. Born to a Senegalese father and an Italian mother, he spent his early years in Pantin and attended high school in Dakar, where he now lives. He founded the collective 667 and the group CFR with Norsacce and Osirus Jack, and works in a dense, reference-heavy French drill style that became a template for a generation of French rap. His debut album LMF (La Menace Fantôme) arrived in September 2020, reached number two in France and was later certified double platinum. Within days of its release the Paris prosecutor opened an investigation into lyrics described as antisemitic, and Universal Music ended its deal with him. He has continued releasing independently and remains one of the most commercially successful and most contested figures in French rap.
