Fatboi Sharif is a rapper from Rahway, New Jersey. He grew up moving between relatives' homes, started writing poetry in school and turned to rap at ten as an outlet, later performing in high school theater and working through the Jersey underground scene. He broke through in 2020 with Gandhi Loves Children, produced by Roper Williams, and has kept up a steady run of producer-paired projects since, including Planet Unfaithful with Williams, Decay and Phantasm with Steel Tipped Dove, Cyber City Society with LoneSword and Preaching in Havana with Noface. His writing is dense and image-driven, built on surrealist and horror-adjacent imagery over experimental production, though he rejects the horrorcore label and frames the work as experimentation within a Black creative tradition. He released the EP Invasion Body Camera with ELUCID.
