With Drake’s ninth studio album ICEMAN set to drop May 15, those closest to the Toronto rapper are already raising expectations — and they are raising them high.
Producer Gordo, one of Drake’s most frequent collaborators, posted a cryptic message to X on April 28 that sent fans into a spiral. “What he’s about to do is completely unheard of in music… like nothing we’ve ever seen before. The world isn’t ready for this,” Gordo wrote. He did not name Drake directly, but given the timing and their close working relationship, fans and media immediately connected the post to ICEMAN.
What Could Drake’s ICEMAN Album Format Actually Look Like?
Gordo is not the only one teasing something unusual. A separate fan theory circulating online suggests the Drake ICEMAN album format could span three to four discs, with around 10 songs each — a move that would flood the charts and lock down multiple Billboard Hot 100 positions simultaneously. One user on social media summarized the theory as Drake potentially becoming the first rapper to release a triple-disc album.
Drake’s iceman will format like no other album from him

Expect a classic
Whether that turns out to be accurate remains unconfirmed. What is clear is that multiple people connected to the project have been consistently hinting that ICEMAN is not a standard release. Gordo is expected to contribute production to the album, having previously worked with Drake on tracks like “Sticky,” “Rich Baby Daddy,” and last year’s “GIMME A HUG.”
ICEMAN Singles and What’s Confirmed So Far
ICEMAN will be released via OVO Sound and Republic Records on May 15, 2026. The album serves as Drake’s first full-length solo release since For All the Dogs in 2023. Three singles have been released ahead of the project: “What Did I Miss?,” “Which One” featuring Central Cee, and “Dog House” featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf. It is currently unconfirmed whether all three will appear on the final tracklist.
The stakes surrounding the Drake ICEMAN album format are unusually high. ICEMAN is Drake’s first solo project following his widely publicized 2024 rap battle clash with Kendrick Lamar. While he released a collaborative album with PartyNextDoor in 2025, ICEMAN represents his first solo statement since that feud.
The Rollout That Set the Internet on Fire
The ICEMAN rollout has been one of the most elaborate in recent memory. Drake installed a 25-foot ice sculpture in downtown Toronto composed of one million pounds of ice, with the album’s release date hidden inside. The structure drew crowds, police presence, and fans wielding pickaxes and blowtorches in an attempt to find what was buried within.
Streamer Kishka ultimately located the release date — hidden inside a blue waterproof bag — and was later taken to Drake’s mansion, where he received a cash reward for cracking the stunt.
The rollout has drawn praise well beyond Drake’s fanbase. Charlamagne Tha God commended the effort during an episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast, saying he loved it because “nobody does rollouts anymore.” Major brands including Chipotle, Coors Light, and the NFL’s New York Giants have since created their own ice sculpture posts inspired by Drake’s campaign.
What’s Next for ICEMAN
When ICEMAN drops on May 15, Drake is positioned to surpass Jay-Z and tie with Taylor Swift for the most Billboard 200 No. 1 albums ever achieved by a solo artist, securing his 15th chart-topper.
A “Freeze the World” tour has also been teased through concept art found inside the Toronto ice sculpture, though no official dates have been announced. The bag containing the release date was labeled “freeze the world,” and concept art inside the package referenced the phrase again — suggesting a major tour could follow the album’s release.
Whether the Drake ICEMAN album format turns out to be a triple disc, a double album, or something else entirely, the hype from insiders continues to build. Fans will find out on May 15.
